Chris has welcomed the announcement of a major investment in the Forth Valley region as part of the UK Government’s new Scottish Local Growth Fund.
The £140 million programme, launched by Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander, will support economic growth across five regions of Scotland over the next three years.
Forth Valley will receive £9.8 million, which will be allocated through the Regional Economic Partnership covering Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire.
Chris said:
“This new funding package represents another significant investment in Stirling and the wider Forth Valley’s economic future. The £9.8 million for Forth Valley is exactly the kind of long-term, locally targeted support that will help drive growth, create skilled jobs and strengthen the foundation of our regional economy for years to come.”
“This UK Government is putting real power and real resources directly into the hands of local people, demonstrating in practical terms that decisions about growth, jobs and opportunity are best shaped locally to deliver real results for our communities.”
The Local Growth Fund will back projects that make a tangible difference to people’s lives, including infrastructure improvements, business support and skills development. Funding decisions will be made locally to ensure investment meets the needs of communities and delivers maximum impact.
