Chris calls for action on Illegally Parked Cars near Stirling Beauty Spots

Chris has called for urgent action to tackle persistent issues with illegally parked vehicles near popular visitor destinations in the constituency.
Concerns have been raised in recent weeks over roads running alongside Loch Lubnaig and Loch Lomond, where illegal parking is causing significant disruption to traffic and posing risks to public safety. He has written to the Chief Executive of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority to request a coordinated response to the issue.
The A84, which runs between Kilmahog and Strathyre along Loch Lubnaig, has long suffered from illegally parked vehicles obstructing traffic flow. The situation is particularly acute during the summer months, when visitor numbers increase. Local residents have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement and increased monitoring by Transport Scotland and Police Scotland.
On 10 May, Police Scotland Forth Valley posted on social media advising drivers to avoid the route due to serious congestion caused by parked vehicles blocking the road.
A similar problem exists on the C6 clearway between Balmaha and Rowardennan, a route operated by Stirling Council. This stretch of road is a well-known access point to the eastern side of Loch Lomond and sees a high volume of visitors during the tourist season. Constituents have expressed frustration at a perceived lack of enforcement and resourcing by the local authority to manage the ongoing situation.
Chris commented on the situation, saying: “Not only is the illegal parking obstructive to locals, causing major disruption, but it is also dangerous, especially when emergency vehicles are unable to use the roads to get to incidents quickly.”
“Many constituents have been in touch, concerned with this very serious issue, and I have written to the Chief Executive of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority to see what action they are taking to assist with this issue. Ultimately, the illegally parked cars are coming to use their facilities, and they should be part of the coordinated solution to this ever-growing problem.”
Chris will continue to press Transport Scotland, Stirling Council, and Police Scotland to work collaboratively with the National Park Authority to improve enforcement and safety on these key rural routes.
