Ways to Get Involved with Chris Kane MPÂ
Chris Kane MP is committed to supporting learning, skills development, and civic participation across Stirling and Strathallan. Whether you’re exploring a career in public service, looking to contribute to your community, or simply want to better understand how politics works, there are several ways you can get involved with the work of your local MP.
Opportunities range from formal paid roles to flexible volunteering and short-term taster placements — each designed to give you meaningful insight into public life.
Jobs and VacanciesÂ
Paid staff roles in either the constituency or parliamentary office will be advertised on this page when available. These roles may include casework, communications, administration or research support.Â
There are no current vacancies.
We also encourage you to regularly check www.w4mpjobs.org — the official jobs board for MPs, parliamentary staff, and political roles across the UK.
Internships – Constituency OfficeÂ
Internships are ideal for those who want to gain practical experience in a political or community-focused workplace, particularly as part of a university or college programme. Interns become active members of the team, supporting our work on:Â
- Casework and constituent supportÂ
- Campaigns and community engagementÂ
- Research and project-based activitiesÂ
Placements last up to three months, are normally part-time, and are paid at the Living Wage. Reasonable incidental expenses are reimbursed. All interns must pass parliamentary security vetting, which can take up to two months.Â
This opportunity is best suited to:Â
- Students seeking accredited placementsÂ
- Applicants with six months of voluntary, campaigning or civic experienceÂ
- Individuals with specific skills or interests in public serviceÂ
Internship opportunities will be advertised here and through Stirling University and Forth Valley College when available.Â
VolunteeringÂ
Volunteering offers a flexible, low-barrier way to get involved — whether you’re looking to build experience, give back to your community, or learn more about politics. Volunteers are welcomed from all backgrounds and abilities.Â
Volunteer activities may include:Â
- Helping with admin and correspondenceÂ
- Supporting public events or outreach activitiesÂ
- Assisting with campaign research or communicationsÂ
- Contributing to local engagement workÂ
There’s no set time commitment — volunteers can contribute regularly or occasionally, depending on availability. Expenses are reimbursed, and a simple volunteer agreement will outline expectations. Some roles may require security vetting.Â
To express interest, email [email protected] at any time. Your application will be kept on file until a position is available. We would love to hear from you.Â
Work Experience – Constituency OfficeÂ
Our constituency-based work experience placements offer a short, structured introduction to how an MP’s local office operates. These placements are open to everyone curious about politics, casework or community service, but may particularly appeal to those in the final years of high school or early college/university.Â
Placements typically run over 2–5 days, from Tuesday to Friday, with an optional Saturday morning outreach activity. Participants will shadow the team and:Â
- Observe how casework and constituent support is handledÂ
- Assist with administrative and communications tasksÂ
- Attend meetings or accompany the MP on local visits (subject to availability)Â
Parliamentary security vetting is required and can take up to two months, so early engagement is important. Reasonable incidental expenses will be covered. Â
To express interest, email [email protected] at any time. Please include:Â
- A short cover letter explaining why you’re applying, what you hope to gain, and why you’d be a good fitÂ
- A basic CV summarising your background and interestsÂ
Your application will be kept on file until a position is available.
